Spanish continues to merge its position as one of the most spoken languages in the world! Over 580 million people speak Spanish, so it definitely represents an opportunity to grow, both professionally and personally.

Learning Spanish opens doors all over the world

According to the report El Español: Una lengua viva (2019) by the Cervantes Institute, about 580 million people speak Spanish in the world, 7.6% of the world’s population.

Of this figure, 483 million have Spanish as their native language, making it the second most spoken language in the world, behind Mandarin Chinese.

Another curious fact is that they estimate that by 2060, the United States will be the one country with the largest number of Spanish speakers, since 1 out of every 3 inhabitants will be Hispanic.

In addition, it is important to note that Spanish is the third most used language on the Internet, a space in which it is experiencing increasing growth.

In fact, the same report shows Spanish is the most requested language at all educational levels in the United States, while France, Italy, the United Kingdom and Germany are the countries with the highest number of Spanish students in Europe.

Likewise, the teaching of Spanish has grown steadily in English-speaking countries such as Canada (with 90,000 students), Ireland (47,000), Australia (34,000) and New Zealand (36,000).
